The Henton at Elon is a 55+ senior residential community adjacent to the campus of Elon University. It is one of the first retirement communities in the United States specifically located within walking distance of a campus so that residents could take advantage of the academic, athletic and cultural activities available. Residents have access to the fine arts center, where one can enjoy all types of musical plays, speakers, etc. Additionally, the safety and security of a small college town is an attraction for older people.
The Henton comprises 40 single-family homes designed to "work" for people as they age. Residents own their own homes and have free access to common areas. A homeowners association sees that all grounds are maintained. Residents pay a monthly fee for this service. The Community is governed by its By Laws and the Declaration of Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions. (Available upon request) Residents of the Community enjoy this beautiful neighborhood and its quiet and peaceful surroundings.
The Henton was created and developed by the owners of Blakey Hall and The Hamlet at Blakey. Residents come from the local area and from a number of different states. Some are retirees and others are empty nesters that still work.
